been awhile…

Things have been busy around here, but let me see if I can give a decent update.

Amy and the kids, were gone for a week; visiting her family in PA. From what I hear, they had a really good trip. Guy and Kael did very well on the trip out and back. Amy did not do so well on the return trip. She was ill… on the plane… with the kids… enough said.

Guy and Kael had lots of fun visiting Grandma, Papa, and the rest of the family. Guy has been telling me stories, and Amy keeps raving on about how Papa just laughed and laughed at Kael’s “running”.

I finished my contract here in Omaha, and started another one in Lincoln, NE. I am back to doing “geeky” stuff again. This is fun and challenging in its own way. For this contract, it is all about coding in Java, specifically with regards to file I/O. Essentially, I am converting Mainframe COBOL batch jobs to server-side Java. Not only do I have to remember the Java API, but I also have to remember my COBOL. Can you say, Ugh ;).

Now that Amy is back we are trying to get the plans settled for our multiple trips this year. We have our tickets and hotels booked for the Ecuador trip; hotel for the California trip; and are working on the Pennsylvania trip.

To help pay for all of these trips, Amy has been working like mad. I must say that I do not like it. Do not get me wrong the extra money is nice… very nice. I just miss my maid, cook, babysitter, friend, lover… um, I mean Amy.

Amy and I will be starting, on March 6th, the Body-for-LIFE program again. Not only are we trying to get healthy, we want to look good too.

As if that was not enough, Amy and I are trying to “learn” Spanish before we head down to Ecuador. I use “learn” loosely, as I am hoping to be able to get by. Amy on the other hand has some previous Spanish knowledge and probably will pick it up pretty quick. We are still trying to figure out when, during the day we are going to practice, but we have decided to make it a priority.

Speaking of the Ecuador trip, Amy just sent off her passport application, and made a few phone calls to get the vaccinations lined up. Yeah, on the passport… Ugh, on the vaccinations.

On to more family news… each year my family has an Annual Pinochle tournament. This year, Amy is going to join in. This could be a very good, or very bad thing depending on how you look at it. I have my fingers crossed and I am hoping for “good”.

Well that is about it. Take care.
