Each year the American Lung Association hosts an Asthma Walk in hundreds of communities across the Unites States. The funds raised support ALA’s efforts to search for a cure, reduce suffering and promote awareness through research, education and advocacy at state and federal levels.
As a Respiratory Therapist, I see the devastating effects lung disease has on family and friends, as well as the individuals who are actually diagnosed with it. Not only is this something I deal with on a professional level but it is an issue that is very dear to me personally as well. In 1994, I lost a grandfather to lung disease and recently, an uncle was diagnosed. Both of my sisters as well as my husband and my 6 month old son suffer from asthma.
This year the “Blow the Whistle on Asthma!†walk with be held on Saturday, April 29th at Chalco Hills Recreation Area. As captain of the “Ambassadors for Asthma Awareness†team, I am hoping you will support us by joining our team, sponsoring your own, signing up to walk or simply making a tax-deductible donation.
All donations and checks should be made to the American Lung Association. For additional information or to make donations, visit the ALA’s or the Asthma Walk’s websites.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
