weak moment turns wife into gamer?

A month ago, while Amy, the kids, and her family were in North Platte… I had a weak moment. A friend of mine brought over his xbox so that we could play Halo 2.

I’ve only played Halo 2 sporadically with a few of my other friends, and lets just leave it at… he kicked my butt when we played against each other, and I was a good decoy in co-op.

Well we played till ~ 2 in the morning. I had a blast, and to put it mildly, I was hooked. Well I slept, woke up, and tried to call my beautiful bride to have her talk me out of buying an xbox 360. But darn, I could not get a hold of her. Sprint cell coverage in North Platte, um, is lacking.

Still not able to get Amy on the phone, I stop by the local GameStop, just to “browse”. After “browsing” for ~ 20 minutes and trying to desperately reach Amy every 2-3 minutes on the phone. I took the plunge and purchased an xbox 360.

Amy was a little miffed that dropped as much $ as I did on a “toy” without discussing it first, and rightly so.

But over the last month, she has had an opportunity to “play” with my “toy” and see how much fun it can be. Not only is she having fun, but she actually sat down with me to assist while playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Is my weak moment, turning my wife into a gamer? Well I wouldn’t go that far, but I am making headway.

Another intersting thing… I had read about the xbox live arcade, but didn’t realize how much fun and addictive it is for the whole family. So much so that Guy loves playing Feeding Frenzy and Cloning Clyde. He probably is playing almost as much as I am ;).

If you are into games, and yet to own a xbox 360, I for one would recommend it. And if you do own or will own and xbox 360 in the future… send me a friend request.

    Jamie,

Looks like your xbox360 is taking over your blog! I can’t even find real entries from you because your xbox takes up all the space. Also, how come it never mentions when you play Halo2??

Anyway, just wanted to drop you a line and say that I miss you and am wondering what your family’s plans are for Labor Day weekend? I appreciate the invitations to the zoo that you and Amy have extended us, and I apologize that we haven’t had a chance to join you yet.

We’d love to try and plan some sort of get-together in the near future again. Or, if not the families, I wouldn’t mind taking an early Friday some week and just get together the 2 of us for lunch, drinks, golf, or anything else you’d like to do.

Hope all is well. One of these days we will actually coordinate to play Halo at the same time.

    Talk to you later,
    Tony
