Happy 2007

What a wonderful life I live! This past year was crazy and hectic and busy but we loved it! Guy and Kael are growing so fast! In August Kael turned a year and in September, Guy turned 4. Can you believe how fast the time has gone?! The boys are doing great, growing into such amazing little men.

Asthma. With multiple appointments & tests to rule everything else out, we got the diagnosis of Asthma for Kael. Once we got things under control, he had a great year. As things cooled off, he acted up a little but nothing like last winter. In May, I organized a team with work for the annual Asthma Walk in April. We raised about $1000 for the American Lung Association and are hoping for lots of support again this year.

Love. It was definitely in the air this year. We traveled for three weddings, had a few here in Nebraska and had to miss a few as well because of schedules. The first wedding travel took us to Pablo San Lago, Ecuador for my Cousin Rachel. What an amazing trip! It was my first time in a non-English speaking country. The people were wonderful; the food was amazing and the view spectacular. I cannot even begin to describe how fantastic an experience it was! It will be a great place to take the boys in a few more years.

Leaving for CA. Tony (the best man from our wedding) & Nicole’s wedding was in Berkeley. It was my first time in the San Francisco Bay area. We checked out Fisherman’s Wharf, the Farmer’s Market and Japantown. This will be another great place to take the boys when they are older!

I do! The last wedding we traveled for was back home in PA for my Cousin Amanda, a beautiful outdoor wedding that let me be with great people. I saw family, old friends from high school and met some wonderful new people as well. We went up to the Finger Lakes Region to tour the wineries for the Bachelorette Party. Even with the rain, it was a fun trip.

New skills. I had two left feet as Jamie & I tried Ballroom Dancing for the first time. He of course, did great! We took a few lessons, had a great time and are looking forward to our schedules slowing down so we can give it a try again.

Growing up. I turned 30 last year and surprisingly, it was not a big deal. Actually, I don’t feel any older than I did at 25, definitely older than I did at 21 but not at 25. Although, older may be the wrong term, mature is probably more appropriate. This year Jamie gets to join the ranks of us 30-somethings.

Family. The girls (aka my sisters) and Mom came out for an extended stay this summer (the end of May through the beginning of July). They kept the boys while Jamie and I did our wedding travel to Ecuador and California. Dad came out for the last week. We all took a weekend trip out to North Platte, NE to meet up with my Aunt Kathy & Cousin Erin. We really enjoyed having my family here and wish they could be closer.

Online Classes. Jamie and I decided it was time that we both get back to school. I am going for my Bachelors in Nursing with the long-term goal of getting my Masters in the PA or NP program. He is undecided. Right now we are taking an online Algebra class together. I am also taking a Chemistry class. It has been 10 years since I finished RT school so I have to take my sciences again (the RN program requires they be more recent). I bet you are all envious that I get to sit through Chem 101 and A&P I & II again!

Really busy. That describes Jamie’s year with work. He seemed to spend a lot of time traveling with about two months in Pella, IA. He also had plenty of shorter trips. We all like it best when he’s here with us though. He (and I) have not done the best job keeping the website up to date but there is quite a bit of detail from our trips this summer on there. There are also quite a few pictures from summer, the holidays, Jamie’s new tattoo, etc. Feel free to check them all out at www.legobuff.com.

Dogs. Loki & Mazi are doing fine but they cost us a fortune this year. Do you have any idea what it costs to have your dogs’ teeth cleaned? Now there’s a market. Otherwise, they are healthy, happy and spoiled. Mazi usually sleeps curled up at our feet while Loki sleeps in on Guy’s bed. Once we get Kael out of his crib we can transfer Mazi to his bed and we will have our bed back to ourselves. It is ok to dream, right?

Start of 2007! Obviously, my update is extremely late this year. So, I might as fill you in on the start of this year. We spent two weeks in January out to my parents. The boys and Jamie ended up with bronchitis. Needless to say, with everyone sick it wasn’t one of our best trips home. Since we’ve been back it has continued, with a stomach bug, sinus infections and now strep throat. I can’t wait for winter to be over! Happy 2007 to you all. We are hoping for a little calmer year this year!
