This last month (actually, it’s only been two weeks) has been so incredibly busy! Along with work and school, we also had the Asthma Walk, the Lincoln Half Marathon and the start of my CNA course. To top it all off, Guy was sick with a 102-104 fever for almost all of last week, followed this week by Jamie and Kael with fevers. Can we possibly fit in anything else?
Thank you to everyone that helped us with the Asthma Walk. Our team goal was $1000.00 and we raised $1456.23! What a great accomplishment! We had wonderful weather and good turnout. Thank you to those of you who walked with us.
The Lincoln Half Marathon was last weekend. It was my first Half and my longest run to date. I had not trained as much as I would have liked with all the traveling that Jamie did the first part of the year. My longest run prior to the Half was actually only 5 miles so I more than doubled it. For those not familiar with running, a Half is 13.1 miles. I finished in 2 hours 58 minutes and 36 seconds. I managed to run the first 10, walked on and off mile 11 and all of mile 12, then ran the last mile. For those of you that run, I’m sure you are not impressed but for a non-runner like me it was a major accomplishment. My goal for the next one is to run the whole thing. I’m not sure when that will be though; maybe the Omaha Half in September.
I will be starting the BSN program this fall at Clarkson College. As a pre-req, I have to have my CNA certification. With the other classes I am taking, this session is the only one that would fit in my schedule. So for the next 5 weeks, along with my 11 credits, I am also spending 3 days a week in class for the CNA course.
Needless to say with the boys all being sick, this has been a very long week. Today is the first day that Kael has not run a fever this week. It is also the first day all week that Jamie has gotten out of bed for anything other than a trip a to the bathroom. Hopefully, they are turning a corner and on their way to feeling better.
I will try to get the pictures from the Asthma Walk and Lincoln Half up sometime this weekend.
