amy and i took the boys to nashville, tn to visit favorite second cousin rachel, marv, lin and will for thanksgiving.

we left last saturday and had an uneventful drive to kansas city, mo where we stayed the night and let the boys have fun at the pool.

we leisurely woke on sunday, had a decent breakfast and were back on the road. ten hours later we were in nashville, meeting rachel at mcdonalds so she could show us to her house. we met owen and maria once we walked in door and had a wonderful night playing taboo and gabbing.

we spent the rest of the week lounging, playing the xbox or ds, at the zoo, or the adventure science center.

one of the days amy went to hot yoga with rachel and lin. she didn’t do so hot, but would like to try some yoga without the added hot in the future. :)

wednesday we had the unfortunate discovery that the xbox was experiencing the dreaded red rings of death. this was a big bummer as we had brought an external hard drive that contains all of the disney movies for the boys. i placed a call to microsoft support and they are shipping me a box to send it in for repair. it is going to be rough waiting for it to get fixed. :(

thanksgiving morning amy and the rest of the gang, ran in the boulevard bolt, while the boys and i slept in. it was decided that we were going out for thanksgiving dinner, this way we didn’t have to cook. after deciding on mexican for the meal, there as a flurry of activity trying to track down a mexican restaurant that would be open and that served margarita’s. luckily one was found and happiness and good food were had later in the night.

friday night we all (sans marv) went contra dancing with owen and maria. amy, lin, will and i took the beginners lessons. boy’s will be boy’s though so when it came time to do if for real, i had daddy duty and amy got to “go pro”. ;) i actually had fun during the lessons and think that amy and i will have to see if they have something like this locally.

saturday we woke up, gathered things together and said our goodbyes. ~9 hours later we were playing in the pool at the quality inn in columbia, mo. we watched a little animal planet with the boys, had a very funny butterfly moment with kael, and went to bed.

on the way home today we took a detour to kansas city, ks so that we could stop by t-rex. the boys had a blast and once i let my anxiety go, i did also. afterwards we had a nice ride home.

it was good to see rachel and marv again, as well as lin. it was wonderful meeting will, and i honestly don’t know if we all would have remained sane if it wasn’t for him being there for the boys. here’s to hoping it won’t be another year-and-a-half before we see them all again.
