2008 Asthma Walk

Each year the American Lung Association hosts “Blow the Whistle on Asthma”. People all across the country participate in the walk to raise awareness and money for asthma research and education. This year’s walk will begin at 9:00am at the Chalco Hills Recreation Area in Omaha on Saturday, April 26th.

As a Respiratory therapist that is the wife and mother of asthmatics this issue is very important to me personally as well as professionally. My husband, Jamie is a life-long asthma sufferer and both of my sons, Guy 5½ and Kael 2½, have unfortunately followed in Daddy’s footsteps.

This is my 3rd year as Captain of Ambassadors for Asthma Awareness. With the help of Carmella, my Co-Caption, the first year we raised a little under $700. Last year we not only met our goal of $1000 but surpassed it by reaching almost half again that amount! With the amazing support we received last year we have set this year’s goal at $1500.

Each year we grow not only in financial support but also in team members. I am hoping that you will support us by joining our team, signing up to walk or simply making a tax-deductible donation.  Raffle tickets are also available.  The first drawing is for a Nintendo Wii, the second for two Midwest Airlines tickets.

Donations and checks should be made to the American Lung Association and can be sent to me or directly to ALA at 7101 Newport Ave, Suite 303, Omaha, NE 68152. Please, make a note that you are supporting Ambassadors for Asthma Awareness. For additional information on the walk or to make a donation online, you can visit their website at www.asthmawalk.org or go directly to my personal fundraising page.

Thank you for all of your help. I look forward to hearing from all of you soon.
